Auto Shutdown
Auto Shutdown can automatically shut down the computer based on conditions you configure.
Use this feature carefully because Windows will actually shut down when the conditions are met.
Available conditions
Auto Shutdown can be configured to:
- shut down based on offline conditions,
- shut down at a specific time,
- wait for a countdown before shutdown,
- use a grace period before an offline condition is accepted.
Before enabling it
Check these three things:
- The selected trigger is correct.
- The configured time or offline condition matches what you want.
- The countdown is long enough to cancel shutdown if needed.
WARNING
Do not enable Auto Shutdown just for testing without checking the trigger and time. The computer may actually shut down when the condition is met.
If shutdown has already been scheduled
Use Cancel if you want to stop the process before the countdown ends.
If you use an offline condition
The grace period helps prevent shutdown when a client is only offline briefly.
Use a value long enough so short connection interruptions do not immediately count as a shutdown condition.
If Auto Shutdown does not run
Check that:
- the feature is enabled,
- the correct trigger is selected,
- the configured time has not already passed,
- the offline condition is actually met,
- the countdown or grace period is not still running.
